Trump is the Embodiment of All Seven Deadly Sins
Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth
Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth.
There is one US politician who instantly comes to mind when I think of the Seven Deadly Sins. Regardless of party affiliation and loyalty, one person is the epitome of all these deplorable traits: Donald J. Trump.
Every person on the planet is an imperfect human being. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God if you believe in that sort of thing. During my almost 50 years on this planet, I’ve closely watched every president and most political figures, seeing some examples of these in each person.
But never have I seen one human being proudly display them all in such a wilfully ignorant, horrible way. Until there was Trump.
Donald Trump never had a chance. Growing up wealthy and entitled, he observed most of these firsthand. His father was once arrested at a KKK rally, though he claimed not to be a member or supporter. He was an aggressive businessman and a strict authoritarian parent. Donald gained his father’s approval because he was willing to be ruthless in business like Fred Trump.
Being raised wealthy and groomed to be the “Chosen One” for the family’s real estate empire helped Donald to embrace the Seven Deadly Sins. Fred referred to Donald as “The King” and likely did nothing to prevent him from epitomizing these horrible qualities that most find deplorable.
Let’s take a look at these Seven Deadly Sins that the Christian ascetic Evagrius Ponticus wrote of in the 4th century. It will be clear how they apply to Donald Trump. I hope that it will help those considering voting for Trump to have a change of mind about putting a horrific human being like him into office.
Pride
Nobody embodies the notion of pride more than Donald Trump. He constantly boasts about his wealth, his buildings, and even his crowd sizes at his political rallies. Though they are smaller than he claims, he nonetheless brags about them being gigantic. I’m sure Melania and Stormy can relate.
He’s found himself in legal trouble for overvaluing his assets and holdings. Part of the reasoning behind this is to secure bigger loans with more favorable terms. But more than that, it’s because he’s an extremely prideful man and has the need to make himself look wealthier and more successful than he actually is.
Greed
This Deadly Sin is quite obvious in all that Trump does. Though it’s not wrong to have money, it’s very much wrong for money to have you. Donald Trump is guilty of worshiping money and power and never stops pushing toward gaining more of both.
He markets and sells cheap, poorly-made products to the followers who elevate him to a god-like status. Whether it’s worthless, laughable NFTs that portray him as some sort of superhero figure, gaudy, American flag basketball shoes, or Trump-logo Bibles, his supporters gladly overpay and line his pockets with their hard-earned money.
And he laughs all the way to the bank. Lawyers aren’t cheap when you’re involved in as many criminal cases as Don the Con is.
Lust
This sin is one that Trump has in common with many former presidents. When you’re the most powerful political figure on Earth, it tends to go to your head. The smaller one in your pants, evidently. Former presidents John F. Kennedy, and Bill Clinton are among the notable former American leaders who, like Trump, had extramarital affairs during their time in office.
Donald though took it to another level. He has a history of cheating on his wives with his future wives. He had sexual relations with a well-known porn star, Stormy Daniels while his third wife Melania was home with their newborn son, Barron. He famously talked about grabbing women by their private parts and walking in on teenage beauty contestants in his pageants.
Fathers should never talk about what a hot piece of tail their own daughter is, but Trump did. And he’s a convicted sex offender after being found guilty of assaulting E. Jean Carroll. This is not a man worthy of holding the highest office in our country.
Envy
Trump has jealously talked smack about former president Barack Obama. He’s constantly lying about his crowd sizes during this 2024 election season in an attempt to keep up with Vice President Kamala Harris’ much larger crowds. He’s still spewing angry vitriol against current president Joe Biden, even though he’s not his opponent in the November election.
For a man born into wealth and earning more money than almost anyone else on Planet Earth, Trump is surprisingly insecure. Perhaps it’s because he knows that financial wealth is the only thing he has going for him. Deep down, no matter how much he boasts, he knows that he’s a horrible human being that most people can’t stand.
Gluttony
Donald Trump has poor health habits. Early into his political career, it was disclosed that he had a penchant for fast food. Big Macs, KFC, and other unhealthy choices are part of his regular diet. He even served those foods along with Domino’s and Wendy’s at a White House-hosted dinner for the 2019 national champion Clemson Tigers football team.
Gross. Instead of hosting a classy dinner with better food, he chose the cheap approach and served the foods that HE liked. Nothing says gluttony like putting your own unhealthy fast-food wants ahead of guests who deserve better than that.
Wrath
Trump is a very angry man. His constant tweets and furious all-caps posts on his personal website “Truth” Social demonstrate a fiery, furious man. Anyone who publically calls out his demented, angry tendencies finds themselves in the crosshairs of a vengeful, dangerous lunatic.
Dangerous, because he implores his MAGA minions to fight for his selfish, ignorant wants and desires. He instigated an insurrection after losing the 2020 presidential election by over 7 million votes. People died that day because of his call to action to incite violence and “stop the steal.” Which of course, there was no steal.
Trump conducts himself like a toddler throwing a temper tantrum. When he doesn’t get his way, he becomes wrathful. If he is re-elected, he’s threatened to imprison anyone who opposes him, in true dictator fashion.
Sloth
Donald Trump took more days off during his lame-duck presidency than most former presidents. He golfed 307 days during his four years in office, meaning he spent almost an entire year of his presidency golfing. It’s no wonder he left the economy in shambles when he was voted out in 2020.
This is why he never has a definitive answer when questioned about his plans to fix inflation, create jobs, or make housing more affordable for working-class citizens. Those people don’t have the luxury to play golf when they should be focusing on their jobs, as Trump does.
Trump’s slothful ways do not indicate that he’s a man for the people. They show us that he cares only about his personal comfort and selfish desires.
If you truly want to make America great, voting for a man who embodies all of the Seven Deadly Sins isn’t the way to go. For conservative Christian voters, this should be glaringly obvious. Yet so many seem to overlook a morally bankrupt human-like Trump’s worst characteristics.
Why is that? Because he instills fear and the doom-and-gloom mentality that he’s constantly spewing out of his big, always-open mouth. Or because they see their own racism and bigotry reflected in a man who embodies all of the Seven Deadly Sins?
Intelligent, well-informed, compassionate people will not vote for a 34-time lawbreaking felon in November. Let’s just hope that there are more of us headed to the booth than his hypocritical MAGA followers.

Loved the article—it is flabbergasting that cogent arguments like this will not sway those who say they are Christian AND his followers. How they justify themselves out of that pretzel of in-your-face, undisputed fact is beyond me.
In thinking about the modern presidents (maybe, what, post FDR?), I wondered which one came closest to abiding by a more chaste and honorable life—the furthest away from the Seven Deadly Sins. Could it be Jimmy Carter? He was, and remarkably still is, such a decent, decent man (yeah, I know he copped to lusting in his heart, but he never acted on those thoughts. A better man than perhaps 99.999% of all men who EVER existed!).
Extremely well written 🤩☑️ The Dumpster Fire is a psychologically-damaged human being…And what does it say about our sick society that he is even in CONTENTION for the highest office in the land…AGAIN!! 😵😵💫🤯🤦🏻♀️💆🏻♀️😰 And then, knowing that it’s not even over on Election Day because of the shenanigans that the GOP intends to pull if results don’t lean in their favor 📉… Will Jan 6 come & go without any major upheavals? And will Jan 20 usher in a new administration with a peaceful transfer of power??🥺
